This means that readers will get, at a bare minimum, 6,000 words (minimum of 600 words/episode; the rough equivalent of 12 pages) with which to judge whether they wish to continue with a story or not. With the new pricing structure, authors are losing 35 tokens worth of royalty for those additional free episodes. (Authors get 50% of tokens spent on their work which, while it sounds good, breaks down to $0.05/episode at best.)
Because of these changes and the difficulty of your work being found on KV, I am uncertain if I will continue to publish to Vella. If you have started any of my serial stories, firstly, thank you! and don't fret, they will get published in long format (ebook/paperback) once complete.
Ousted from their home pride, Kgosi and Sefu embark on a journey across the Delta seeking their new home. A perfect fit for those who grew up watching 'The Lion King'.
